The Pipers are a strange bunch.

A small group, the pipers are descended from military personnel who sought refuge in nuclear shelters in the years following the flare. The pipers shelter was so secret that very few personnel knew its exact location, most found themselves been whisked to the shelter in transport with no windows. Overtime, as people died the knowledge was lost as to the location of the shelter.

Most of those who found sanctuary in the deep underground bunkers managed to escape their shelters over time and made a living on the outside. However the door locked fast on the Pipers shelter. With no tools capable of getting through the massive blast doors, no maps and no one left alive the small group are stuck. Fortunately the mycoproteins which were cultured long before they were needed and the shelters artisian well and agricultural project will supply the group for a long time to come.
